Stress is the body’s natural response to change and is an inevitable part of life. Stress can be triggered by emotions, situations, environmental factors, etc.
It can help protect you from life threatening situations and is meant to help you survive when confronted with danger.
However, long term (chronic) stress can have detrimental effects on your health including increased risk of depression, heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, weakened immune system, hormone imbalance, insomnia, migraine headaches, and much more. In my practice, I see how quickly stress ages an individual and how quickly their health spirals out of control when they are chronically stressed.
I have to keep myself in constant check on my stress level. Even if I “don’t feel stressed” sometimes my body lets me know that I am.
