Stress is directly related to disease and mortality. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), stress has been classified as “the health epidemic of the 21st century”.
According to a study by Gallup, stress levels among Americans are higher than the overall world average. Studies are finding that American’s are stressed about the future of the nation, money, work, the political climate, violence and crime.
Emotional stress, I would venture to say, wreaks havoc on our health more than anything. I see it directly manifests itself in the forms of fatigue, period problems, low libido, memory/concentration issues, headaches, anxiety, depression, insomnia, weight changes, hair loss, and so much more.
With the stress of life, our busy ways, and the negativity that surrounds us constantly on social media and the news, our body is in a constant state of stress, which can feel crippling and destroy our health if we don’t find ways to reduce it and/or healthy ways to manage it.
